The Euro 2020 runners-up will be back in action on Sunday evening as they look to put up a convincing performance against Slovakia and further advance in the tournament.

Wolverhampton Wanderers are in excellent form as of late, winning three of their last four matches in the Premier League.

Last weekend, Gary O'Neil's side narrowly overcame bottom-of-the-table Sheffield United, beating them 1-0 at home, with the three points pushing them into ninth in the table.

However, their attention will turn to the FA Cup this week as the Wanderers welcome Brighton & Hove Albion to the Molineux.

Not many changes will be made or needed from the weekend, but it is expected that a strong team will be fielded – with just three potential alterations in store. Therefore, let’s take a look at the starting lineup that could see Wolves progress to the next round.

1 GK – Jose Sa

Jose Sa is the number one shot-stopper for Wolves, and he is expected to start once again, just like he did in the previous round against West Bromwich Albion.

2 RCB – Max Kilman

Max Kilman’s leadership will be important on Wednesday, and he has started every single game bar one this season.

3 CB – Santiago Bueno

Santiago Bueno hasn’t been handed a real opportunity yet by O’Neil, starting just twice in the league, but he should feature in the lineup tomorrow ahead of an ageing Craig Dawson.

4 LCB – Toti Gomes

Toti Gomes has been excellent this campaign, and his performance against the Blades will guarantee him a place.

The Portuguese defender won 11 duels while also having 102 touches on Sunday.

5 RM – Matt Doherty

Nelson Semedo is the player to be replaced by Matt Doherty, who has started all three FA Cup games this campaign.

6 CM – Mario Lemina

Mario Lemina should keep his place in the side after impressing at the weekend, making four tackles and two key passes.

The midfielder has also been immense all season, starting 23 times in the league.

7 CM – Tommy Doyle

Tommy Doyle has performed incredibly well when called upon this campaign, and he should return to the side in place of Joao Gomes.

The 22-year-old scored a worldie against Brentford in the first FA Cup tie, helping Wolves progress.

He was also a "stand-out" against West Brom in the Black Country derby, as per journalist Liam Keen, taking 87 touches and controlling the tie from the first whistle to the last.

8 LM – Rayan Ait Nouri

Rayan Ait Nouri was the creator of Wolves' only goal on Sunday, and he will keep his place in the left-wing back role.

9 RF – Pablo Sarabia

Pablo Sarabia was the player who headed home the Algerian’s sublime cross, and his threat in the final third will be needed against Brighton.

10 LF – Pedro Neto

Wolves’ biggest creator in the Premier League with nine assists will continue to prove to be undroppable, and he is one of the first names on the teamsheet.

The Portuguese ace also scored the opener against West Brom in the previous round.

With 17 needed off the final over, Mohammad Nabi hit Hardik for a six over long-on, off the third ball, before falling off the next ball. The stopper has signed a pre-contract with Spanish champions Barcelona and will join fellow Lionesses Lucy Bronze and Keira Walsh at the club. Barca are on the verge of Champions League glory having stormed to another league title without losing a game.

As impressive as Tottenham Hotspur have been under Ange Postecoglou, the boss must ensure that this is only the start of his improvements in North London as he looks to take them back into the Champions League. The Lilywhites currently sit inside the Premier League's top four, albeit having played an extra game than Manchester City, and will be aiming to show similar form in the second half of the campaign.

As the January transfer window approaches, Spurs may well start to think about further reinforcements for Postecoglou and perhaps ones that could cement their place among England's elite once more. However, one particular target is already being lined up for next summer.

Spurs transfer news

Postecoglou is certainly prepared for a busy window next month, having recently told Sky Sports when asked if January is coming at a good time:

"Yeah, if we get the outcomes it will be. But it's going to be a challenging month for us because you're talking about three players in Pape, Biss and Sonny who have been very important to what we're trying to build. We've got Maddison, Van de Ven and Rodrigo Bentancur – really significant players who are missing – so fingers crossed the guys we've got at the moment stay healthy through that period. It's going to be a challenging period and January is always a difficult transfer window to get things done particularly quickly, so I think we're preparing ourselves for that."

According to reports in Spain, Ferran Torres is one of the options at the top of Spurs' transfer wishlist and is open to a change of scenery after falling down the pecking order at Barcelona. Given that Spurs are yet to replace record goalscorer Harry Kane too, Torres could be an ideal option to turn to, although he is a target for next summer.

"Brilliant" Torres can provide Son cover

Without Kane these days as well, it's difficult to identify a player who could step up for the Lilywhites. Instead, however, they could turn to the transfer market and Torres. The former Manchester City forward and two-time Premier League winner can play both out wide and in the striker role, potentially handing those in North London an ideal Heung-min Son replacement.

Earning the praise of Pep Guardiola whilst at City, the Spaniard said:

"Not just this evening, of course this evening was important, but his first season in England and his numbers are exceptional. He came as a winger, but he has to think about (being) a striker. When Sergio, Gabriel were out, he was there. He scored against Leeds and Crystal Palace. He didn't have many minutes, but when he played, he had a sense of goal.

"Yeah, he can be [a No 9]. We will use him, we used him and he was brilliant. His rhythm, especially defensively he has improved a lot. The game at Palace, he makes a turn [in his season] – so good. The movement he makes as a striker, for the [third] goal, it hits the bar and where it goes, he knew it."

Whilst Torres' goals total of just three this season makes for poor reading, he hasn't been helped by Barcelona manager Xavi, who has granted the forward just seven starts in La Liga. With that said, both Spurs and Torres could solve each of their problems in 2024, so it could be one to watch over the coming months.
