Chelsea's hopes of qualifying for Europe for next season were dealt another blow as they were hammered 5-0 by rivals Arsenal at The Emirates on Tuesday night.

The Blues, who lost in the semi-finals of the FA Cup on Saturday, had the chance to move level on points with Newcastle United in sixth place with a win in North London.

Instead, Mauricio Pochettino's side were swept aside with ease by Mikel Arteta's men, including a brace from former Chelsea man Kai Havertz, and remain in ninth with six matches left to play in the Premier League.

One player who must now be sold by Todd Boehly in the summer after his display against Arsenal, and the general standard of his performances this season, is centre-back Benoit Badiashile.

Benoit Badiashile was worse than Axel Disasi against Arsenal

Whilst neither player covered themselves in glory, Badiashile was the worst of the two centre-backs for Chelsea, as Axel Disasi outperformed him.

Firstly, GOAL reporter Tom Maston handed the left-footed defender a dismal match rating of 2/10, citing his 'abysmal' play in possession and slow reactions to close down opposition attackers, whilst Disasi earned a score of 4/10.

Former Manchester United and England star Rio Ferdinand claimed that Arsenal "destroyed" Badiashile in his post-match analysis for TNT Sports.

As you can see in the table above, Disasi was far more reliable in possession, did not make any direct errors that led to shots or goals, and was dominant in physical duels, whilst his defensive partner fell short in those metrics.

Badiashile did not cover himself in glory for either of Havertz's goals, with the ball going in behind him for the first and the defender giving him far too much space to find the corner for the second, and allowed Ben White to drift off the back of him for his first.

Why Todd Boehly must cash in on Benoit Badiashile

Italian giants AC Milan were linked with an interest in the French titan earlier this month, and Boehly must take advantage of any potential suitors and sell him this summer.

The 23-year-old dud, who has been an unused substitute in two of the last three matches, has only been handed nine league starts by Pochettino this season, which does not suggest that the Argentine boss trusts him to play regularly at the back.

He has made one error that led to a shot, one that led to a goal, and given away one penalty in those nine starts – one major error every three starts on average.

Badiashile has been at Chelsea for over a year, since his move from Monaco in January of last year, and is yet to prove that he has what it takes to be a top performer in the Premier League.

Therefore, the 2/10 flop, who was just 'destroyed' by Arsenal, should be brutally sold – if Milan act upon their interest – by Boehly to make way for a, hopefully, higher-quality replacement in the summer transfer window,

Sean Dyche has been handed yet another blow in his bid to keep Everton in the Premier League this season, it has been reported.

Everton struggling to find form

Everton are fighting for their Premier League lives once again, but don't have it entirely in their own hands. Having been found guilty of a Financial Fair Play breach earlier in the season, the Toffees were docked six points. They could yet be docked more points should they be found guilty of a second breach, with the decision set to be made by 8th April at the latest.

As it stands, they sit four points clear of the drop zone, and another deduction could see them slip towards the bottom three and Nottingham Forest, who themselves have been docked four points.

According to expected goals, Everton should have scored 19 more than they have managed. The second-biggest underperformance in the Premier League is Brentford, who have found the net eight fewer times than their efforts deserve.

In fact, Everton's is the biggest underperformance in Europe's top five leagues, with Ligue 1 side Nice second to the Toffees with an underperformance of 13.76.

On top of that, Dyche is seeing his squad hit by injuries.

Lewis Dobbin latest absentee

Now, it has emerged that young winger Lewis Dobbin is set to miss at least part of the campaign's remaining games after picking up an injury over the international break.

The youngster scored his first Premier League goal earlier in the season and has made 11 substitute appearances for the Toffees this term. He was part of the warm-weather training camp in Portugal, but has since picked up an injury.

As per the Liverpool Echo, the injury came about in a 'freak accident' in training, which resulted in Dobbin suffering damaged ligaments, though it was not bad enough to require surgery, as had been initially feared.

Dyche explained ahead of the clash with Bournemouth that there was no obvious return date for Dobbin just yet.

“It is better news than we thought. He hurt his ankle and was very unlucky – he fell over, landed on someone’s foot and it tilted his ankle. We thought it might need an operation, it doesn’t, which is good news, so now it is just the timescales of getting him back.”

Dobbin now joins Arnaut Danjuma on the sidelines in what will come as a blow to any hopes Dyche harboured of freshening up his misfiring attack over the international break.

Tottenham Hotspur have had a rare weekend off after their scheduled clash with London rivals Chelsea was postponed due to their involvement in the League Cup final with Liverpool on Sunday.

This means that Ange Postecoglou's side now have a game in hand over the teams around them in the Premier League table, who have all played 26 matches to Spurs' 25.

The weekend's results in the top-flight have left the Lilywhites in fifth and five points behind Aston Villa in fourth, as they battle to secure Champions League football for the 2024/25 campaign.

Whilst the bulk of their focus will be on the current season and trying to achieve as top four finish in the division, the club reportedly already have one eye on the summer transfer window as they plot to improve their squad.

They are said to still be interested in a deal to sign a Premier League star who was on their radar during the recent January transfer window.

Latest Spurs transfer news

According to Football Insider, Tottenham have a 'concrete' interest in Chelsea central midfielder Conor Gallagher ahead of a possible summer swoop.

The report claims that the club are continuing to keep tabs on the England international's situation at Stamford Bridge, as they would like to bring him over to North London.

It states that Spurs 'intend' to make another move to sign the 24-year-old maestro after they failed to secure his services at the start of this year.

Football Insider reveal that Postecoglou's side did hold talks with Chelsea over a possible transfer for the former Crystal Palace loanee, but a move never materialised before the deadline passed.

The outlet claims that the Blues need to raise funds to comply with Premier League financial rules as they are currently at risk of exceeding the £105m allowable losses under Premier League Profit and Sustainability Rules.

It was reported earlier this month that they could need to sell several key players to ensure that they do not fall the wrong side of those losses.

Gallagher's current contract at Stamford Bridge is due to expire in the summer of 2025, which means that he will have one year left to run on his deal by the end of this season.

This, along with him being a homegrown player whose sale would be pure profit, could make him a prime candidate for Chelsea to cash in on, particularly amid interest from Spurs.

Tottenham must now push hard to secure a summer deal to sign the impressive midfielder ahead of the 2024/25 campaign as he is a proven Premier League performer who could come in as Postecoglou's own version of Villa star Douglas Luiz.

The Brazilian gem, who scored twice this weekend, was linked with a move to North London last summer but the club could now sign their own version of him by landing Gallagher.

Douglas Luiz's Premier League brilliance

Villa are currently above Spurs in the division and Luiz's brilliance in the middle of the park has played a pivotal role in their impressive success so far.

The former Manchester City prospect is a well-rounded midfielder who has athleticism and quality to make an impact in and out of possession for his team.

He has showcased his ability in the final third with an impressive return of nine goals and four assists in 25 Premier League appearances this season, with four of those goals coming from the penalty spot.

Luiz, with his five non-penalty goals, currently ranks within the top 15% of midfielders in the division for non-penalty goals (0.21) per 90, and the top 16% for Expected Assisted Goals (0.16) per 90.

The 25-year-old dynamo also ranks within the top 28% or higher for progressive passes (5.82) and progressive carries (2.01) per 90 respectively, which shows that he is positive on the ball and constantly looking to progress play for his team.

Defensively, the talented gem has been strong in his physical battles with a duel success rate of 54%, to go along with 2.6 tackles and interceptions per match.

This shows that Luiz can hold his own out of possession to win the ball back for his side multiple times per game, alongside his impressive work in the final third.

Why Gallagher could be Tottenham's own Luiz

Interestingly, FBref list the Villa star as the second-most similar player to Gallagher in the Premier League, behind Bruno Guimaraes of Newcastle United, based on their respective statistics this season.

Like the Brazilian gem, the England international has been a creative force in the middle of the park with 0.14 Expected Assisted Goals per 90, which places him within the top 30% of his positional peers this term, and that has led to four assists in the top-flight.

The Chelsea ace also ranks within the top 28% for progressive passes (5.66) per 90, which shows that they both look to push their respective teams up the pitch by breaking lines with forward passes.

Gallagher has also been an impressive defensive presence in front of his back four with 3.8 tackles and interceptions per game and a duel success rate of 52% across 24 appearances in the Premier League.

This suggests that the Spurs target could, in fact, offer more than Luiz out of possession as he has made 1.2 more tackles and interceptions combined per outing this term.

However, the Blues gem has only scored two goals, both of which came against Crystal Palace recently, and has not offered as much as the Villa star has as a scorer.

Although, Gallagher did plunder eight goals, along with three assists, in 34 appearances whilst on loan with the Eagles in the Premier League during the 2021/22 campaign, which suggests that the potential is there for him to provide regular quality in the final third.

Overall, the 6 foot metronome, who was once hailed as "relentless" by The Athletic's Mike Stavrou, has the requisite attributes and performance levels to be Postecoglou's own, younger, version of Luiz in midfield for the club.

He has the potential to offer quality as both a scorer and a creator of goals, as a progressive passer in the middle of the park, and as a brick wall in front of the defence to cut out opposition attacks, which could make him a well-rounded option for the head coach.

It was West Ham's most regrettable day of the campaign to date, and one which heaped even more pressure on under-fire boss Moyes. Fans were already divided over whether to offer the Scotsman a contract extension, with his current deal expiring at the end of the season.

“A really poor day for us,” said Moyes on West Ham's defeat to Arsenal.

“Very difficult to explain how we played so poorly. Arsenal played exceptionally well, we must give them the credit. The disappointing thing for me is, since I’ve come back to the club, I don’t think my teams defend like that ever. The disappointing thing is we were weak today, didn’t do the jobs well enough, didn’t fight to contain harder. We could have conceded other goals as well.”

Sunday's result has plunged Moyes' future into further doubt, regardless of the 60-year-old recently stating that talks were "well down the line" over fresh terms at Rush Green.

West Ham make Moyes contract decision amid "high-profile" manager claim

The reliable journalist wrote in a piece for The Telegraph this week that West Ham have decided to postpone Moyes renewal talks, and it is believed that a number of "high-profile" unnamed managers are interested in the potential vacancy.

Indeed, it is believed numerous bosses of calibre are eyeing up the job, and London Stadium chiefs are well aware of this. It's apparently given West Ham something to think about, as the east Londoners will also be considering potential backlash from some supporters if they do decide to retain Moyes.

The 60-year-old guided West Ham to their first major trophy since the 1980s with a Europa Conference League triumph in Prague, but domestically, they just about avoided relegation to The Championship.

Since Moyes took over from Manuel Pellegrini in late 2019, West Ham have also qualified for Europe in three of the last four campaigns.

Manchester United are known for signing players for astronomical fees just for them to flop.

Jadon Sancho and Antony – who cost £73m and £86m, respectively – are often the most talked-about examples of that, but there is one player who often escapes criticism despite costing nearly as much.

With that in mind, let’s take a look at the individual who hasn’t performed anywhere near his price tag and why the move was the wrong decision in the first place.

How much Casemiro cost Man United

Last summer, the five-time Champions League winner switched sunny Madrid for miserable Manchester, with the weather providing an excellent description of his time at the two clubs.

At Real Madrid, Casemiro won 18 trophies over 336 appearances, where he was known for being a “monster,” as per writer Muhammad Butt, protecting the backline in a defensive midfield role behind Toni Kroos and Luka Modric.

United were, and still are, in the market for a true defensive midfielder to replace Nemanja Matic in the summer of 2022, and they decided to spend £70m on the Brazilian, which is clearly a large fee for a then 30-year-old.

Fast forward to last summer, and Jamie Carragher expressed his thoughts about the signing of the defensive rock, labelling the move as a "panic buy," which is proving to be a fairly accurate statement.

Casemiro’s current value

His first season at the Red Devils saw him become a key player in the side, starting 24 Premier League games and forming a solid partnership alongside Christian Eriksen that Ten Hag could trust.

The midfielder, who was mainly known for his defensive duties, showcased his ability to score goals, as he netted seven times across all competitions, including the goal that ultimately handed the Red Devils the EFL Cup.

Casemiro was also included in the FIFPro World XI for 2022, which was the cherry on top of his perfect start to life at Man United.

However, signing a 30-year-old and playing him frequently is obviously going to have its flaws, which we have seen this season.

The now-31-year-old played the first 12 matches of the campaign before picking up an injury that would ultimately see him miss 17 games. Since then, he's featured just three times for Ten Hag's side.

His estimated value had already decreased significantly by that point, but it has dipped even further down to £26m – as per CIES Football Observatory – which is a £44m drop from what the deal was originally worth when signing him.

Unfortunately, it seems that this trend is only set to continue, with the Brazilian struggling to reach the levels he was once at pre-injury.

Potentially in hindsight, but the 6 foot 1 titan was most definitely a “panic buy," and United must look to shift their number 18 who costs the club £350k-per-week in wages.
