– brincou o cantor.

Dinamite vestia o uniforme do Vasco.

'Never done before': Adelaide Oval's key role in New York's T20 World Cup pitches

The pitch trays will be shipped from Australia to Florida then transported to the pop-up venue

Adelaide Oval head groundsman Damien Hough says the drop-in pitches that will be used at Eisenhower Park in New York for the Men’s T20 World Cup are a world first in terms of how they are prepared with some of the trays being built in Adelaide before being shipped to Florida and then transported to the new venue ahead of the tournament.Hough and his team at Adelaide Oval Turf Solutions have been hired by the ICC to oversee the delivery and preparation of the drop-in pitches at the pop-up stadium in New York given their expertise in growing and preparing drop-in pitches over the last decade.Related

Hough explained that it has been a complicated process to prepare the pitches for the World Cup with a lot of logistical challenges involved.”It’s a bit tricky, we basically built six of the 10 trays here in Adelaide,” Hough told . “We made them modular. We’re really proud of them. We’ve got a couple out of the back that will probably come out here [on Adelaide Oval] next year.”We put them in a shipping container and send them really wherever we want around the world. But they’ve gone over to Florida. And I’ve just come back from a month of work over there putting the trays together, putting the soil in, compacting them and putting the grass on. So we’re in the grow-in phase.”We’ve got a business, a company over there called LandTek that are helping us with the grow-in phase. Then there’s a couple more strategic trips throughout the next six months to do some work on them and then transport them from Florida all the way up to New York where we’ll put them in and prepare them.”It’s a lot of work that’s gone into it so far. But the real work starts around the start of May. It’ll take two days to transport them up which is quite incredible. Never done that before. So there’s a lot of firsts. And then there’s getting them in the ground.”Four go into that venue, that pop-up stadium, 34,000-seat stadium. Eight games in 10 days. One of them is Pakistan and India which will be amazing. And then there’s six that go into the warm-up venue with so many teams rotating through and so much training.”Hough, who has also been dividing his time while also working on the Adelaide Oval pitch for the Test match between Australia and West Indies and Adelaide’s BBL pitches, said there is only likely to be one warm-up game at Eisenhower Park before the World Cup starts.”The first game is early June,” Hough said. “There’s probably going to be a warm-up game just to test the venue out in late May. But yeah, I pinch myself sometimes. For us, Adelaide Oval Turf Solutions, to have a little bit of involvement and assist with something that is quite historic in a World Cup in America for the first time.”

Moyes can forget Branthwaite by unleashing Everton's "special" academy gem

It will be a historic few months for David Moyes and Everton. The Toffees are all but guaranteed survival in the Premier League this season, sitting comfortably on 34 points in 15th in the table. In the long run, that will be vital.

A new era is afoot for one of England’s biggest clubs. The Merseysiders are set to leave Goodison Park and move to their new ground, Bramley Moore Dock, at the end of the campaign. The fact they will be playing top-flight football there is huge, for financial and footballing reasons.

Whilst Everton will look to build on this season in 2025/26, they might have to do so without star centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite, who has been linked with a move away.

The latest on Branthwaite's future

Toffees fans may be in for another turbulent summer when it comes to Branthwaite’s future. The defender was constantly linked with a move away in 2024, with Manchester United and Man City a reported destination, for as much as £60m.

Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite

As we now know, the England international ended up staying at Goodison Park but might not be at the club for the first season in the new stadium. Fresh reports from various outlets, including Sky Sports, suggest the defender could leave the club in 2025.

It’s stated that the defender is ‘expected to further consider his Everton future’ in the coming weeks and months. This comes after he was left out of Thomas Tuchel’s first England squad, which could increase his chances of a departure.

Branthwaite will not be short of suitors. Sky suggests the centre-back is a target for Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur. Real Madrid have reportedly scouted him, and United are also believed to be interested still.

Replacing the 22-year-old won’t be easy. He’s played 90 minutes in every single one of Moyes’ games in charge so far and is a crucial part of a defense which has certainly improved under the Scot.

Everton centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite

However, perhaps the replacement for Branthwaite is right in front of Everton’s eyes, in their academy.

In The Pipeline

Football FanCast’s In the Pipeline series aims to uncover the very best youth players in world football.

The academy star who can replace Branthwaite

Everton have had plenty of success over the years from their academy. Wayne Rooney is, of course, the most famous example, but the likes of Leon Osman are also recent success stories from the Toffees’ youth system.

Well, perhaps Reece Welch will be the next in line to represent the academy in the first team. If Branthwaite departs the club, he could be the man to step into his shoes, with the young centre-back making a real impression in the youth sides.

This term, the 21-year-old has played 11 times at youth level, captaining the side in the Premier League 2 seven times, keeping two clean sheets in that time. He also spent the first half of the season on loan in Belgium, for KMSK Deinze, but played just three games.

However, the Huddersfield-born defender did enjoy a more successful loan spell last season with League 2 outfit Forest Green Rovers. Despite the struggles they endured, he played 23 times for the club and was a key part of their backline.

Indeed, the stats via Sofascore suggest that, although it was a struggle for the team, Welch more than held his own. Per 90 minutes, he completed 43.1 passes, made 3.5 tackles and interceptions and won three aerial duels per 90 minutes.

Welch, who was described as a “special talent” by one tactical analyst, has already played for the Everton first team. With that being said, he only has two games and 65 minutes under his belt.

If Branthwaite did leave the club at the end of the season, Welch could be a ready-made replacement. He has already played first-team football at various levels and is a talented defender with the stats to back that theory up.

Per Sport, Al-Hilal want to sign a replacement for Bono this summer and are eyeing three world-class goalkeepers: Barcelona's Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Manchester City's Ederson, and Liverpool stopper Alisson. Enquiries have been made for all three, with a significant budget set aside for the potential purchase.

Al-Hilal do face a significant obstacle in that many players view Saudi Arabia as a less-than-attractive destination. Alisson has rejected a move to the league before, doing so last summer, and ter Stegen also has doubts over the prospect of the move, as he is concerned about losing his place in the Germany squad ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

DID YOU KNOW?

Barca have been heavily linked with a swoop to sign Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia this summer, while Wojciech Szczesny is set to sign a new contract, meaning ter Stegen's position is under question. The report claims Barca would be open to a sale.

'Absolutely a red card!' – Fans in disbelief as Aston Villa star Tyrone Mings somehow escapes sending off for 'serious foul play' after elbow on Bournemouth's Alex Scott

Villa faced Bournemouth on Saturday and Mings was at the centre of an ugly incident early in the first-half. While chasing the ball, the defender appeared to throw his elbow towards midfielder Alex Scott, who was chasing behind him, and fans were left astonished that VAR did not recommend a red card for the England international.

    WHAT THE FANS ARE SAYING

@TheGunnerNick wrote: "I’m sorry, but that’s serious foul play by Mings and absolutely a red card. No excuse to be throwing an elbow out."

@Trevorlloyd92 said: "Mings definitely should've been sent off for that elbow."

@AD48828231 added: "How did VAR look at that Mings elbow and decide that's not a red?"

@HackettRef, the account of former referee Keith Hackett, said: "Well Tyrone Mings clearly has used his arm/elbow in an illegal manner. The backward movement of his arm/elbow is at least reckless. He is rather fortunate to avoid a sanction. VAR can only intervene on a red card offence and has determined there is insufficient force. Lucky!"

@RichardDavies20 concluded: "Can someone please explain how that elbow by Mings on Scott wasn't looked at closer??"

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Mings has not been as ever-present in Villa's backline this season as usual and has been limited to just 13 Premier League outings, mainly due to his recovery from an ACL injury. He is perhaps fortunate that he is not facing up to a suspension that would have seen him ruled out of their final two games of the campaign.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

After ousting Liverpool, PSG then progressed past Aston Villa and will be hopeful of making it three two-legged victories over English opposition in a row when they face Arsenal in the second leg of their semi-final. Luis Enrique's side earned a 1-0 advantage at the Emirates Stadium last week thanks to Ousmane Dembele's fourth-minute strike.

  • WHAT SALAH SAID

Speaking to L'Equipe, Salah said: "I have to be honest. PSG had a very good first leg. We were so lucky. Alisson had the best game of his career at Liverpool. They were very unlucky. Then they came to Anfield. And we were the ones who were unlucky because we hit the post two or three times, they saved balls on their line once or twice. So we were unlucky too.

"In this match, everything was 50/50. Who deserved to qualify more? No one could say. We had a very good second leg, they had a very good first leg. And you lose on penalties…sometimes it's your day. Sometimes it's mine. It was their day. No one would say, 'They deserved it 100%!' No. The first leg, yes. The second, no. It's the same for us. The second leg, yes. The first, no.

"It was their day and I shook the players' hands afterward, I said to them: ' Congratulations, go win it!' and that was it. We were in great form all season, and in March alone, we had a bit of a slump. And we are playing the best team in Europe at that time. They had a rise in form and we reached the same point. Then there was the League Cup match (the final against Newcastle). You lose in the Champions League, you go into the League Cup match thinking: 'Bad timing'."

Arsenal offered £50m attacker who scored 21 goals last term

Arsenal have been handed a late chance to grant Mikel Arteta’s wish for a new striker, with the Spaniard making no secret of his desire to secure a prolific, fresh option up front before the deadline in two days’ time.

Arsenal’s manager previously confirmed their need for another attacker midway through January, after long-term injuries to Gabriel Jesus and Bukayo Saka, with Arteta again speaking of the club’s late work on transfer activity in his latest pre-match press conference ahead of their Manchester City clash.

“We are trying everything that we can, but I don’t want to give any reassurance or not,” said Arteta on the rest of Arsenal’s transfer window.

“I don’t know, it doesn’t depend only on us, so our intention is clear, but the possibilities are affected by three parties. I’m very confident with the work that the club is doing and exploring every single opportunity that we believe can have an impact on the team. That’s certainly the case, and if we can agree something, we will. If not, we won’t.”

Arsenal submitted a £60 million bid for Ollie Watkins earlier this week, which came on the eve of Aston Villa’s crucial Champions League clash at home to Celtic, and it was swiftly rejected by Unai Emery’s side.

There have been some reports that Arsenal could make a second bid for Watkins, as the boyhood Gunners supporter is keen on a move to north London (as per Graeme Bailey), but Villa selling Jhon Duran to Al-Nassr makes this deal very unlikely at best.

Arsenal offered Bayer Leverkusen star Victor Boniface

According to a report from journalist Graeme Bailey once more, Bayer Leverkusen star Victor Boniface is being presented to Arteta’s side as a potential Watkins alternative.

The Nigerian scored 21 goals in all competitions last campaign, helping Leverkusen to a historic Bundesliga title, and he was subject to an accepted £50 million offer from Al-Nassr before they signed Duran instead.

Arsenal have been offered Boniface by intermediaries, who’ve made them aware of the 24-year-old’s availability as they seek a new club for the striker. Boniface’s injury record could be a cause for concern, but as for his quality, there is little doubt he’d provide Arteta with firepower.

“Victor’s a real problem for opposition defences,” said Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso.

“He’s powerful, quick and makes runs from deep. He has a good mentality and works for the team, not for himself.”
