Leeds fans praise Peacock-Farrell for international call-up

Leeds fans have been praising Bailey Peacock-Farrell again after the youngster was called up to Northern Ireland’s U21s squad.

Peacock-Farrell did not have a flying start to his professional career. The 21 year-old goalkeeper had made just one league appearance for Leeds before his loan move to York City.

The 21 year-old also had trials with League One’s Oldham Athletic and Swedish Superettan club Landskrona BoIS, both of which decided not to take up the loan option for the youngster.

Things change very quickly in football though, and the young stopper has gone from a turbulent spell with York, to the Leeds first team, to an international call-up in the space of a few weeks.

The young stopper has been named as one of two keepers in Northern Ireland’s U21s squad for their upcoming friendlies, alongside Burnley’s Conor Mitchell.

Peacock-Farrell was thrown into the limelight in the 3-0 defeat to Wolves last week, thanks to Felix Wiedwald’s poor form and an injury to veteran Andy Lonergan. After a busy encounter with Wolves, he impressed again in the 2-2 draw at Reading on Saturday.

Leeds fans have been reacting to Peacock-Farrell’s call-up on Twitter. While he certainly still has a few doubters, most fans are delighted for the man they see as their long-term number one.

Man United fans are split on prospect of signing Celtic’s Kieran Tierney

As reported by The Mirror earlier this week, Manchester United have been heavily linked with a potential move for Celtic defender Kieran Tierney this summer.

The paper reckon that the Red Devils are set to firm up their interest in the Scotland international with a formal offer for the player, who is rated at £25m.

Tierney has been a stand-out at the Scottish champions for a few seasons now and has flourished under the guidance of Brendan Rodgers.

He’s won plaudits from Celtic fans for his committed displays at left-back, believing he could eventually become a future captain at the club, despite all the talk linking him with a move to the Premier League.

United badly need reinforcements in the position this summer with Ashley Young not getting any younger and Luke Shaw falling out of favour with Jose Mourinho.

Supporters though are not wholly convinced Tierney is the right choice.

Some reckon it’s a great idea…

Others though are less convinced and are looking for a signing like Alex Sandro or Ryan Sessesgnon…

Alexander-Arnold almost left Liverpool for RB Leipzig, fans react

Trent Alexander-Arnold is having quite the season at Liverpool as he attempts to make the transformation from academy player to first-team regular.

At just 19 years of age, the local boy will continue to develop and make improvements before becoming the finished article.

On Wednesday night, though, the right-back put in a man-of-the-match display against Manchester City.

Prior to kickoff, it seemed that out of anyone, Alexander-Arnold would be the possible weak link as he was tasked with marking Leroy Sane.

In the end, though, the teenager stepped up and completed his job in style as Liverpool earned a 3-0 win at Anfield in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final clash.

News has since emerged in The Times claiming that Alexander-Arnold was wanted by RB Leipzig in January.

The publication states that following Philippe Coutinho’s departure to Barcelona, Liverpool tried to speed up Naby Keita’s arrival from Leipzig, but the German club were only willing to do a deal if the Reds’ young right-back was included.

The Anfield outfit reportedly refused to offload Alexander-Arnold, and so far it looks to have been the right decision judging by his midweek performance.

On Reddit, Liverpool fans have been discussing the rumours.

Can is not expected to play a part in Tuesday night’s crucial Champions League quarter-final second leg against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium due to a back injury.

The midfielder has not featured in Jurgen Klopp’s side since the team’s 5-0 thrashing of Watford at Anfield on March 17.

Lineker spots good omen for Liverpool’s Champions League campaign

Liverpool are the only English club left standing in the Champions League, and they are just three games away from winning the tournament.Jurgen Klopp’s side were underdogs heading into their quarter-final tie against Manchester City, but they got off to the perfect start in the first leg at Anfield.Inside 31 minutes, Mohamed Salah, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Sadio Mane found the back of the net for the Reds.City were unable to respond, and despite Gabriel Jesus scoring in the second minute of the second leg at the Etihad Stadium, Pep Guardiola’s side failed to overturn the deficit. In the end, Salah and Roberto Firmino killed off the game to send Liverpool into the semi-finals for the first time in a decade.Earlier today, it was confirmed that the Merseyside outfit will take on Roma in the final four, with the possibility of meeting either Real Madrid or Bayern Munich in the showpiece in Kiev. Not many would have given Liverpool a sniff prior to the start of the tournament, but former England international and BBC host Gary Lineker has tweeted a good omen for the fans to get excited about.

To increase the optimism even more, Liverpool defeated Madrid in the final in 1981.

Newcastle United fans hated DeAndre Yedlin’s Monday night performance

Newcastle United’s four-match winning streak in the English Premier League came to a shuddering halt on Monday night after they were defeated 1-0 away to Everton at Goodison Park.

Now safe from relegation, there isn’t much left to play for in the final few games of the season for Rafa Benitez’s men, but a strong top half finish would send a message that the Magpies mean business next term.

Fans were left frustrated with the result and performance, with particular criticism aimed at defender DeAndre Yedlin, who failed to intercept a cross that led to Theo Walcott’s winning goal.

Many supporters feel he is the weak link in Benitez’s starting eleven and some are at the point of seeking a replacement at right-back when the summer transfer window opens.

Should the United States international be replaced or has his improvement this season demonstrated he can still come good in the top-flight?

Fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts…

West Ham fans react to confirmed starting XI against Leicester

West Ham United manager David Moyes has made two changes to the side that was beaten 4-1 by Manchester City at the London Stadium last weekend for the crucial trip to West Ham United on Saturday, and Irons fans have been quick to react.

Arthur Masuaku and Joao Mario come into the XI in place of Patrice Evra – Moyes was slated on Twitter for praising the Frenchman this week– and Edimilson Fernandes respectively, with Adrian keeping his place between the sticks as Joe Hart misses out through injury having been ineligible against his parent club previously.

The east London outfit, who have Pedro Obiang back on the substitutes’ bench after three months out with a knee injury, looked to be cruising to safety after they beat Southampton and drew with Chelsea at the end of March and into April, but they have since taken just one point from a possible nine to leave them just two points above the relegation zone.

West Ham supporters took to social media to give their thoughts on Moyes’ selection, and while one said “#MoyesOut”, another simply said “depression”.

Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction…

Liverpool fans relieved as Butland transfer speculation is quashed

Liverpool’s players and fans are all on a high at the moment as they are just one win away from securing a sixth European title for the club.

Jurgen Klopp’s side will take on Real Madrid in the Champions League final on May 26 in Kiev.

Not many would have backed the Merseyside outfit to go all the way, but their place in the showpiece is deserved.

On top of reaching the final, the Reds managed to finish inside the top four of the Premier League, guaranteeing European football for next season.

While everything seems to be rosy in the garden at the moment, there are still some problem areas that may need to be addressed this summer.

Liverpool’s defence has improved since the arrival of Virgil van Dijk in the summer, but questions still hang over the goalkeeping position.

Loris Karius replaced Simon Mignolet as number one at the start of 2018, but there are rumblings that Klopp is looking for a new shot-stopper.

Earlier this month, The Express reported that Liverpool were interested in signing Stoke City keeper Jack Butland, who was relegated to the Championship with the Potters this season.

However, Liverpool Echo journalist James Pearce has labelled rumoured interest in the seven-capped England international as “nonsense”.

It is safe to say that a number of Liverpool fans are relieved.

West Ham fans pay tribute to Mark Noble after combative performance

West Ham United earned a creditable draw at home to Manchester United on Thursday night, playing out a 0-0 stalemate.

Jose Mourinho’s side confirmed their status the second best outfit in the country so David Moyes and his squad will see it as a point gained rather than two dropped, even if it means little in the context of their season.

With Moyes’ future as manager of the club uncertain, it was at least a reminder that he has stabilised the situation at the club and has key members of team playing with passion and conviction.

Mark Noble certainly displayed that throughout the 90 minutes, facing up well to the Red Devils’ expensive midfield and going toe-to-toe in a clash with Paul Pogba.

Fans loved his contribution and feel his attitude is a massive positive to the Irons, even when the team isn’t firing on all cylinders.

They took to Twitter to pay tribute to their captain…

Arsenal fans give mixed reactions to Perez’s desire to join Lazio

Lucas Perez’s Arsenal career failed to reach the heights that the striker would have wanted it to.

The Spaniard moved to the Emirates from Deportivo La Coruna in 2016, but he struggled to hold down a regular spot in Arsene Wenger’s team.

In fact, the forward started just two Premier League games and came off the bench in a further nine.

In that time, Perez found the back of the net on just one occasion, which ultimately led to Arsenal sending him back to Deportivo on loan this season.

[ad_pod ]

While back in Spain, the striker has scored eight goals and created as many assists in 35 outings in all competitions.

Technically, Perez is still an Arsenal player, and even though Wenger has left as manager, it seems that the 29-year-old is ready to cut ties with the North London outfit.

While speaking to lalaziosiamonoi.it, the forward’s agent Rodrigo Fernandez revealed that his client “likes the idea” of signing for Italian outfit Lazio.

Arsenal fans have had their say on the situation, with many posting very frank opinions on Reddit.
